EURO NCAP recently tested a left-hand drive Jeep Compass and has given the latest SUV from the American carmaker a five-star rating. The SUV scored 90 per cent in the area of adult protection and 83 per cent in the area of child protection.
The top spec 4x4
Limited variant of the Jeep Compass also received a 64 per cent rating for
pedestrian protection. The car that EURO NCAP tested was a left-hand drive
model and is slightly different from the model of the Compass that is sold in
India.
For starters, the left-hand drive Compass gets 8 airbags on
the while the right-hand drive variant that is sold in India only gets 6
airbags on the top model. The build quality of the two is however identical and
the crumple zones are identical in both models. The left-hand drive variant
also gets autonomous braking, something that is not present on the Indian
variant of the Compass.
