Hyundai India has added a smaller engine option for the
Verna - 1.4-litre petrol engine, where previously the model was introduced with
a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines. The new Verna 1.4L unit will
be available on the base E and EX variants. The base E is priced at Rs. 7.80
lakh and EX trim has been priced at Rs. 9.10 lakh (Ex Showroom, Delhi),
respectively. Meanwhile, the Korean car manufacturer has discontinued the petrol
1.6 E and 1.6 EX MT variants.
Speaking of the equipment, both the variants 1.4 E and 1.4
EX will come packed with the same features as seen on the entry-level 1.6-litre
engine variants. Exterior wise, it would gets halogen headlamps, chrome grille,
electric ORVMs along with integrated turn signals and will ride on steel-rimmed
wheels. Inside, the car gets a dual-tone finish and other features are 5.0-inch
touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control, offered on the
EX trim. For the safety, you will get ABS, passenger and driver-side airbags
and ISOFIX child seat mounting points are standard. Additionally in the EX
variant, you will get automatic headlamps with escort function, front fog
lamps, Park Assist with rear camera, impact and speed sensing auto door locks
and keyless entry.
Speaking of the 1.4-litre Kappa petrol unit, it is a
4-cylinder engine identical to the engine used on the Elite i20 automatic that
makes 98.6 bhp of maximum power with 133 Nm of peak torque. The said engine
comes only paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. As claimed by Hyundai,
the Verna 1.4L will deliver a fuel economy of 19.1 kpl.
