Maserati Lavante Launched in India

Post much wait, the new Maserati Levante has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.45 crores. Maserati kicked-off the New Year with the launch of the 2018 Maserati Quattroporte GTS and the newly launched Levante SUV emerges as the latest addition to the 2018 range of the carmaker. Along with the standard Levante, the SUV is also available in GranSport and GranLusso variants.

The Levante, as Maserati claims, is named after the warm Mediterranean wind that can change from a light breeze to an irresistible natural force in an instant. It looks indistinctively Italian with its sleek headlamps flanking the iconic Maserati grille. There are characteristic gills on the front fender and Trident insignia on the D-Pillar in a typical Maserati fashion. There are no less than 13 body colours to choose from.

The sloping roofline lends the SUV a crossover-coupe like stance while the subtle rear is akin to the other practical Maseratis like the Quattroporte and Ghibli. The quad-exhaust lends a sporty appeal too. The SUV rides on stylish 21-inch wheels wrapped in all-weather tyres and measures 5,003x2,158x1,679mm with a wheelbase of 3,004mm.

On the inside, the Levante is as lavish as one could expect from an Italian SUV. There are exotic materials like leather, wood and suede.

Under the hood, the India-bound Maserati Levante will be powered by a 3-litre V6 turbo diesel engine which generates 271bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. The eight-speed automatic gearbox powers the ‘Q4’ intelligent all-wheel drive system. The vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0 - 100kmph in just about 6.9 seconds and is capable of achieving a top speed of 230kmph. To keep the excitement alive among sport-focused drivers, the Levante gets Electric Power Steering (EPS) which enables the Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which includes new active functions such as Highway Assist (HA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Assist (ABSA) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

As for safety, the Levante offers forward collision warning, automatic brake assist system and lane departure warning system. The vehicle also offers blind spot alert, surround view camera and power lift tailgate. The SUV features human-machine interface on board, which is based on an evolution of the Maserati Touch Control system, has also been completely updated to offer additional functions and convenience with the 8.4-inch high-resolution screen and rotary control on the central tunnel. Moreover, the SUV also comes with premium optional upgrades that include sound systems created in association with Bowers and Wilkins or Harman Kardon, and the world’s most stylish car interior, designed by the renowned fashion house of Ermenegildo Zegna.
